Engineering practice in South Sudan is governed by the Engineering Council Act, 2012, which establishes the Engineering Council and provides for registration and licensing.
The relevant law is the Engineering Council Act, 2012. The Act defines categories including consultant engineer, consultancy firm, engineer and professional engineer. It provides for registration, licensing, temporary registration of non-South Sudanese professionals, and registration of consultancies and contractors.

The Act allows temporary registration and limited licences for non-South Sudanese applicants who meet registration and licensing requirements, provided the applicant’s country of origin has a reciprocal policy recognising and permitting registration and licensing of South Sudanese professionals.
Engineering firms, companies and entities engaged in engineering services must register and deposit their eligibility documents with the Council. Foreign consultants or consultancy firms may not render engineering consultancy services in South Sudan without first being registered under the national registry or temporary registry.
Fees should be confirmed directly with the Engineering Council or relevant national authority. The documents reviewed do not provide a current public fee schedule for South Sudan.
